The new Smashing Pumpkins record came out yesterday, after seven years Billy Corgan has given the world a taste of the band that made him famous/infamous. With that said, I bought the record and liked it. I have to give it a few more listens to put it into context over the life span of the band... but my immediate feeling was that there were some satisfying ROCK RIFFS, that any Pumpkins fan will like. He even went out to the valet to put his gift bag away, because his girl didn't want to hold onto it. Qi Shi Huang's Secret Tomb

BEIJING - The tomb of China's first emperor, guarded for more than 2,000 years by 8,000 terracotta warriors and horses, has yielded up another archaeological secret.
After five years of research, archaeologists have confirmed that a 30-metre-high building is buried in the vast mausoleum of Emperor Qinshihuang near the former capital, Xian, in the northwestern province of Shaanxi, Xinhua news agency said on Sunday. Duan Qingbo, a researcher with Shaanxi Institute of Archaeology, said the building might have been constructed for the soul of the emperor to depart. Archaeologists have been using remote sensing technology since 2002 to study the internal structure of the unexcavated mausoleum. They concluded that the building, buried above the main tomb, had four surrounding stair-like walls with nine steps each, Xinhua said. Qinshihuang unified China in 221 BC. The life-size terracotta army, buried in pits near the mausoleum to guard the emperor in the afterlife, was accidentally unearthed in 1974 by farmers who were digging a well.

Frank and Cindy

When Cindy married a rock star, Frank, in 1983 she imagined a life of glamour and GRAMMYS. But the song that propelled Frank to fame, Whirly Girl, would be the only chart-topper from his group, OXO. Years later, out of shape and nearly bankrupt after spending all his money on "gas, food, dry cleaning... and drugs", Frank is not the vision Cindy married. Desperate to resuscitate her dream, Cindy furnishes a new studio for Frank in hopes he'll record another hit. Instead, he'd rather drink. And now, twenty-three years after appearing on American Bandstand, Frank lives sequestered to the basement where he uses coffee cans for a toilet. In 2005, Cindy's filmmaker son G.J. begins documenting the situation. After a year of filming, what began as an attempt to mock his stepfather instead becomes a candid portrait on the pursuit of happiness.

I saw this funny looking "Spidey" car yesterday on the commute home. Turns out the owner has this Super Heroes for parties business. The site is pretty cheesy, but there are some cool pics of StarWars parties and Wolverine. And to be honest, I think their prices are reasonable, I'm sure most kids would love this.
