Back in the day....
The reason that she fades in and out during the opening narration of the film is that parts of the negative got scratched, so rather than get the actress back to re film they just fade her out during the damaged parts, and here's me thinking it was something to do with folding space etc...
Great film, should have won some Oscars that year for costume,photography etc...
