Yo-yo...

Kodai's Djinn yo-yo toys are computerized, wireless video-game combat yo-yos. There's an urban legend that yo-yos originated as weapons, but now it's finally true for real. Djinn games are like Pokemon: each yo-yo contains a randomly selected monster based on a Chinese-zodiac-like cosmology, which is born when you begin spinning. The more your spin, the more powerful your monster grows. Once your monster is powerful enough, you can play solo-games or put it near other yo-yos for wireless head-to-head combat.

It becomes an eye-catching highlight of the ongoing Ice and Snow Sculpture Art Exhibition on the Sun Island, a tourism resort north of the Songhua River.

Self Aware Bots?

Meiji University researchers built a robot that can recognize itself in the mirror. This form of mirror image cognition is arguably a step toward self-awareness. In another experiment, one robot representing the "self," imitated another robot, acting as "the other." Signals from the first robot apparently indicated that the first robot "understood" that the other robot was mimicing its behavior.

Hooked!

It's not the sequel to that Peter Pan movie... It's really a comic book about heroin abuse. Briefly distributed (from May to July 1966) at NYC methadone clinics.
