Diffrent cultures, Different flavors
This is an image of Chinese flavored condoms, ice cream, green tea, and original.
There's also a whole slew of great "chinglish" signs (Chinese signs written in really bad english) over at shanghai dairies I like "Be Seated Defecate".
Indie 103.1
I don't know if you've heard, but something exciting is happening to LA radio. Indie 103.1 started last year as a clear channel rival to local Heavies KROQ. Now, that's not exactly "indie" is it, but some months ago the channel was sold to a "real" independent owner, who is making sure that they don't lose their indie cred. Hands down the best part of Indie, is Steve Jones (sex pistols) show, from 12 to 2 Pacific Time. Now theres a bloke who knows music. Anyway, they have a new website, so I'm supporting it's launch. Check it out, here !
Spitting, Pooping, Oh my!
Last Saturday, the LA Times ran a great story called "China Changes Course". If you have never lived in China, you are going to be surprised by what's in the article. Essentially the Chinese Government is doing what they do best, and is starting a new propoganda campaign to change the behaviors and morals of their citizens, ugh - good luck with that one. And to be realistic, when you get down to it, China can be a rude, crude, dirty environment. And what's great about the article is it gives an ever so brief explanation of why Chinese people spit, push, and yell. You guessed it folks, the Cultural Revloution! You see, that's what happens to a civilzation when the peasants seize control, manners sometimes get left behind. It's a good read. Go here now

Woospace Artist: Jeff Koons
This is when I dislike having a photoblog. I feel as if I should write a more extensive background for the work of Mr. Koons. I suppose I will just write the mundane stuff and leave it at that. Jeff has a mythology looming over his art career. He is known for being controversial and makes odd/beautiful/creepy/cool things. His work first received national attention with his vacuum cleaners encased in glass. He has made sculptures, paintings, and photographs. He even did a series of pornographic images with his then wife, Ilona, called Made in Heaven. Jeff's work is not for everyone. And if you are at work, you won't want to click on this link.
Now I've seen it all...
That's right, Hooters in Shaghai! I have never been to a Hooters, but I'm guessing it's not quite the same. You can look at other great Shanghai photos and news over at Dan Washburn's Shanghai Diaries

Agressive Love Attack
Do you know Pucca? Pucca is a hilarious cartoon girl, that is wildly popular all over Asia. She is actually Korean, but most Chinese I have met claim her as their own. The translated english in Pucca makes it that much better. Check out some great Pucca Animations HERE and they also have a cute Bruce Lee character named Abyo.
Arrested Development
Did you see the season premiere last night? Well, they were shooting the show down the street from my apartment, and I got this shot of the Bluth Mobile (it's a joke in itself, the family had to sell their jet and all they're left with...) If you don't watch the show, you should. Mighty hilarious. And for real fans check this out, oscar's site .

Darkie Toothpaste
I remember seeing this in China, but never tried it. This image is of both the old name and logo and the revised one. I always found this product to be odd and mysterious. I found some interesting things over at
toothpaste world so check it out. I also like the Hammerman toothpaste.

Hot Corpse Bride
I think this should be the actual title for Tim Burton's latest creation. Being dead never looked so good. Except for that maggot in the Bride's eye...she's a dead bombshell for the ages. If you're a fan of Burton's or ever was, I think you'll enjoy this one. It's a simple story, with a few musical numbers (who doesn't like a cabaret song and dance with the dead). Nothing here feels entirely fresh, but does seem to be an improvement on the stop animation front. The color pallete is very deliberate, and plays strong throughout the film. Burton seems to be not so much creating, as he is quoting from a particular visual style, and characters. By the way, the maggot is played by a Peter Lorre avatar. Overall, I enjoyed myself and never felt disappointed. I even heard some dude rooting against the villan behind me. To check out some cool Corpse Bride photos and the maggot character go
Here .
