Beauty Robot
"Rong Cheng", a newly-created robot, sits on display at the Institute of Automation of Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing August 7, 2006. Rong Cheng, dubbed as the first Chinese "beauty" robot, is able to respond to some 1,000 Chinese words. She can dance, bow and greet people in the Sichuan dialect as she is destined for the Sichuan Science Museum to serve as a receptionist. The robot costs about 300,000 yuan (US$37,500) to make, according to Xinhua News. [Reuters]

Robo-Slaves and Sex-Bots are just around the corner. Do people just forget everything they've seen & learned when they leave the theater after seeing Termintor, Blade Runner and The Matrix?
it bad enough losing a job to the chinese but losing your job to a robot is just sad. Like there aren't enough peope there to do this job it just stupid. The guy you are going to pay to fix this thing everytime it break/ crashes would be able to pay two human to do this job. Why not invent somthing use for a change. Like no traffic jam freeways!
A ceaseless challenge...
To create and mimic nature?
To create something in our image?
It's not new (examples of animated puppets goes way back). We're still drawn to do this.
Such things have helped people (i.e propsthetics); also use for dangerous work (robots in space, deep sea, etc.).
I just hope and pray that we apply wisdom to what we do.
